GETTING TO
BALD HEAD ISLAND
Bald Head Island is only accessible by passenger ferry.
On the Island, golf carts are the mode of transportation.
~ PLEASE READ ALL OF THE STEPS BELOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL TRIP ~
Ferry booking opens in January.
1: BOOK
Download the BHI Ferry app or go to www.baldheadislandferry.com.
Schedule Arrival and Departure
- Select your arrival and departure date.
- Follow the prompts to schedule both your ferry and tram reservation.
(the tram will take you directly to your rental or the wedding)
Save Tickets
- You will receive your tickets by email and/or text.
- Add them to your wallet or keep under My Tickets in the app.
Guests Coming For The Day
- When booking the tram, use the address: 105 Light House Wynd (The Chapel)
- Schedule a tram both ways - it will pick you up at the end of the evening.
- Or you can take a 7 minute walk to and from the venue.
2: ARRIVE
Deep Point Marina: 1301 Ferry Rd SE, Southport, NC 28461
Plan to arrive 30 minutes before your ferry departure time.
Luggage
- If you have luggage, follow the road down to the lower level drop off area.
- If your items do not already have a luggage tag, there are complementary tags here.
- Unload your belongings on the curb and wait for an employee to put them in a cart.
**Note your luggage cart number, this will help you find it on the other side.
Parking
- Follow the road around to the gated parking area.
- Park your car in the lot and walk back to the marina.
Ferry Boarding
- Wait for the ferry in the reservation boarding area.
3: FERRY
Seating
You can choose to sit inside on the lower deck or outside on the upper deck
Relax!
The ferry will take you on a 30 minute ride to the island.
4: TRAM
Get Your Tram #
- Wait in the tram reservation line to give the driver your destination address and get your assigned tram number.
- Locate your tram.
- If you're a day visitor, hop in and wait!
Collect Your Luggage
- Find your luggage cart number that you noted on the other side
- Grab your bags, and bring them over to your tram.
- Set your bags beside the tram for the driver to load.
Enjoy the Ride
- The tram driver will confirm your drop off address.
- The tram will drop off all passengers at their various addresses

STAY ON THE ISLAND
Most Island rental companies open 2027 booking in October - November.
Check out VRBO and Airbnb for more options, though they often come with higher fees.
SOUTHPORT, NC
STAY OFF THE ISLAND
There are more affordable options off the Island.
However, your arrival and departure to BHI will be subject to the ferry schedule.
